Personalized learning uses information about a learner to adjust instruction or practice. The design may account for prior knowledge, progress or difficulties, while keeping the educational objective and evidence of learning clear.
An adaptive explanation is not proof that learning improved. Appropriate assessment, privacy safeguards and human oversight remain important, especially when a system's estimate of a learner's needs is incomplete or mistaken.

The idea is to give a learner support that fits what they need at that point. Different people may need different explanations, practice or pacing to work toward the same goal.
For example, a tutor could offer more practice with fractions to someone who is struggling with them while another learner moves to a later topic. The tutor still needs to check actual understanding rather than assuming that a personalized response worked.
Does personalized learning require AI?
No. Teachers and other systems can adapt instruction, while AI is one possible way to support that process.
Does personalization guarantee better learning?
No. Its effectiveness needs evidence from appropriate assessments, not just a system's claim that it adapted the material.
