What is the Universal Commerce Protocol?

Definition

The Universal Commerce Protocol defines interoperable commerce building blocks for interactions among shoppers, artificial intelligence agents and businesses. It aims to let an agent work with merchant capabilities through explicit data and state rather than a retailer-specific visual flow.

UCP can cover parts of the journey such as discovery, cart creation and checkout coordination. Implementations still need identity, authorization, payment and operational testing appropriate to each transaction and retailer.
