Alex Kerss compares Hermes Agent Desktop with Relay Console, a local Swift application he built on top of Hermes Agent and OpenClaw. Instead of replacing either harness, Relay Console provides a familiar messaging interface for creating agents, assigning avatars and maintaining separate direct or team conversations.
The application connects agents to services such as Gmail, Notion, ExaSearch and Google Docs, with permissions and credentials kept on the user's machine. Kerss demonstrates creating a Hermes agent, granting read-only Gmail access and confirming that the agent can inspect recent mail from inside the conversation.
Relay Console also exposes agent instructions, memory, skills, departments, schedules, approvals and generated artifacts. Its team chats let agents prompt one another through a shared workflow, while the user can observe, redirect or pause the loop instead of manually carrying responses between separate tools.
