What is art?

Definition

Artificial intelligence art uses models to generate, transform or combine visual and sometimes audiovisual material. The human role can include framing the question, selecting references, directing iterations, editing outputs and deciding how images or sequences fit an intended story.

The speed of generation changes exploration but does not remove artistic judgment. A technically striking image can fail when its symbols, composition or emotional associations communicate something narrower or different from the creator's intended meaning.

Frequently asked questions

Is AI art created entirely by the model?

Not necessarily. Many works depend on human direction, reference choices, repeated generation, editing, sequencing and selection, even when a model creates much of the visible material.

What makes an AI-generated image artistically successful?

Success depends on how well the image's form, symbolism and context communicate the intended idea, not only on technical polish or novelty.
