An autonomous research loop connects multiple stages of research into a repeating process. The system may form a hypothesis, plan an experiment, use tools, inspect results, and choose a next step based on what it observed.
A genuine loop requires more than producing research suggestions. It must reliably perform and evaluate successive stages, handle failures, preserve valid evidence, and remain within its authority. A demonstration of AI-assisted research does not by itself establish that this full loop exists.

An autonomous research loop is like a science helper that can keep moving from one experiment to the next by using each result to choose what to test afterward. It does not wait for a person to write every individual step.
For example, it might test several materials, compare the measurements, choose the most promising material, and design another test. A reliable system must also notice failed tests instead of treating them as good evidence.
