Jack Cable explains that frontier models are improving at both finding and exploiting vulnerabilities while AI coding agents produce more software with greater autonomy. The result is a larger attack surface and faster discovery of weaknesses that already recur across the software ecosystem.
He argues that most of these vulnerability classes are not new. Memory-safety failures, weak authorization and similar defects can be reduced through secure-by-design architecture, memory-safe languages and checks that operate before code reaches a pull request.
Cable recommends pairing AI coding acceleration with automated security review, strengthening widely used open-source foundations and expanding access to defensive model capability.
