Z.ai's roadmap begins with agents that can pursue goals over much longer periods, remember prior work and coordinate tools without constant human direction. The near-term objective is not just a better chatbot, but a system that can plan and complete substantial projects.
The longer-term vision extends those capabilities into autonomous organizations with few or no human operators. Such systems would coordinate specialized agents, allocate work and improve their own processes, making organizational design part of the path toward more general intelligence.
The roadmap ultimately points toward AI-assisted self-training and recursive improvement. It also acknowledges that increasingly autonomous systems raise difficult safety questions, while presenting open weights and broad access as counterweights to concentrating advanced capability in a small number of institutions.
